Linux - Free Software Works!

Tux!

What can I say about Linux? I've been running Linux at home since kernel 0.99p13. Years ago I dreamed of having a Unix system I could afford to play with at home as I was convinced that it would allow me to do the quick and dirty things that were all I had time to do at home. Now Linux has >ten million users and is running a good part of the net.

I use it at home as my "Everything" server. Email, faxes, voice reminders, IP Masquerading so I can get both myself and my wife surfing the netsurfing the net simultaneously, X-Windows, Home Intranet Server, Fileserver etc. It handles all of these with ease. The nicest part about this is that this server is "headless". By this I mean it doesn't even have a graphics card, let alone a monitor and keyboard. Everything can be done using the network and since the Webmin package was released, virtually everything can be administered via a web browser anywhere on my network!.

One of my favourite sayings is that I reboot my Windows PC at least once a day. I reboot my Linux PC when I move house!

IDE-Floppy

I am now the official maintainer of the IDE-Floppy driver for the Linux kernel. If you came here looking for the latest version, take a look at my Clik! page. I will update this to include FAQs for the different types of IDE-Floppy available. For now, if anyone knows of any other than the LS-120 Superdrive, the Zip 100/250 internal and the Clik! please let me know.
